Evening Summer Paddles
Our club runs over 20 evening paddling trips, open to just about all skill levels. We rotate the location of these evening trips between Cherokee Marsh, Starkweather Creek, Lake Mendota, Lake Wingra, Six Mile Creek, Token Creek, Maunesha River and various other locations on the Yahara River.
Our evening paddles are displayed with our weekend paddles and are found on our Event Calendar page
Our typical paddling season consists of over 50 destinations for weekend trips, ranging from sea kayaking in the Apostle Islands, to whitewater paddling on the Bois Brule, to quiet water trips on rivers such as the Wisconsin, Mecan and Sugar rivers.
See our Event Calendar page for more details.
MCP Meets Monthly
The club meets monthly, usually on the first Thursday of the month, at 6:30 pm. After the meal we usually have a program on some facet of paddling. During the winter months, meetings are held at Monona Community Center. In the warmer months we meet outside at Mendota County Park; some members elect to paddle on Lake Mendota following the meeting.
See our Monthly Meeting page for details.
MCP Members Keeping Our Waterways Clean
Many of our members volunteer in helping keep our waterways clear. Some of the organizations we help are Take a Stake in The Lake, Capitol Water Trails, and a smaller group within the club keeps Token Creek navigable for all paddlers.
See our Links page for more info in how to get involved.
Membership in the Mad City Paddlers is open to anyone interested in canoeing or kayaking. Go to the Membership Form's page to print the membership form, fill it out completely (don't forget to sign the waiver) and mail it with your dues payment to the address on the form. With membership comes a monthly newsletter.
